Unleashing the Beast with FuelX Pro+
I recently installed the FuelX Pro+ on my KTM Duke 390 Gen 3, and the experience has been nothing short of phenomenal. Paired with a BMC air filter, my bike’s performance saw a noticeable improvement right from the start. Initially, I didn’t have an aftermarket exhaust, but even in stock form, the results were impressive.
The FuelX Pro+ comes with 10 different fuel settings, allowing me to tweak the air-fuel ratio for efficiency or performance.
- Settings 1-2: Leaner fuel mixture for better mileage.
- Setting 3: Stock air-fuel ratio.
- Settings 4-10: Progressive fuel enrichment for high performance.
I experimented with different settings, and when I pushed it to level 10, my Duke 390 felt like a rocket. The bike idled differently and even felt like it was revving slightly on its own.
Adding a Barrel Exhaust – Next-Level Performance
After using the FuelX Pro+ for a month, I decided to take things a step further by installing a Barrel exhaust. However, instead of opting for a full-system exhaust, I decatted my stock exhaust and installed the Barrel free-flow end can. The result? Even more power and a deeper, aggressive exhaust note.
But there was a downside. Without the DB killer, my bike sounded amazing, but it struggled to idle on cold starts. After some research, I found out that the engine needs ECU tuning for optimal performance when running without a DB killer. When I reinstalled the DB killer, everything worked smoothly again.

FuelX Pro+ Makes the Duke 390 Smooth as Butter
One of the biggest improvements after installing FuelX Pro+ was how smooth my Duke 390 became. The engine felt more refined, throttle response was crisp, and low-end power delivery improved significantly.
I also noticed that FuelX settings impact the quick shifter:
- On higher settings (7+), the quick shifter became extremely smooth.
- On lower settings, the quick shifter wasn’t as refined.
Final Verdict – Is FuelX Pro+ Worth It?
Absolutely! If you own a KTM Duke 390, FuelX Pro+ is one of the best upgrades you can install. It improves throttle response, makes the engine smoother, and enhances overall rideability. However, if you plan to run an aftermarket exhaust without a DB killer, you might need ECU tuning to avoid idling issues.
If you love customizing your bike’s performance, this is a must-have mod!
